Reefling Terms of Use

1. Introduction

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Reefling iOS application ("Reefling" or "the app") and related services provided under the Magellan3 brand. By downloading, installing, or using Reefling, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Who provides Reefling

Reefling is provided by Iker Pascual, operating under the Magellan3 brand, based in Spain ("we", "us", "Magellan3"). For any question, contact hello@magellan3.com.

3. What Reefling does

Reefling is an aquarium tracking application that helps hobbyists log water chemistry, photograph and read test strips with AI assistance, manage maintenance tasks, and monitor their tanks over time.

Reefling is provided as an informational tool for aquarium hobbyists. It is not a substitute for professional veterinary advice or specialist consultation regarding aquatic life.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Reefling. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

5. Your account

Reefling can be used without creating an account. If you choose to create one to enable cloud sync, you are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. You must provide accurate information.

You may delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account).

6. Subscription

Reefling offers an optional paid subscription ("Reefling Pro") that unlocks additional features such as multiple aquariums, increased AI scan limits, unlimited history, cloud sync, tank photo gallery, dosing tracking, and data export.

Pricing and billing

• Reefling Pro is offered at €2.99 per month or €24.99 per year (prices may vary by region as set by Apple).
• Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store and managed by Apple, not by us.
• Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your iOS Settings, under your Apple ID → Subscriptions.

Refunds

Refund requests are handled by Apple under their policies, not by Magellan3. You can request a refund directly through Apple at https://reportaproblem.apple.com.

Free features and limits

The free version of Reefling includes a defined set of features and usage limits, which may change over time. We will provide reasonable notice in the app if limits change for existing free users.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code, except as permitted by law
• Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure
• Attempt to bypass usage limits, paywalls, or AI processing quotas
• Use the app to harass, harm, or deceive others
• Upload photos that contain content unrelated to aquarium test strips or tanks, especially content that is unlawful, offensive, or that depicts identifiable individuals without consent
• Use automated systems to access the app or its servers

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for users who violate these terms.

8. AI features

Reefling uses Anthropic's Claude AI to extract water chemistry values from photos of test strips. AI processing is optional and requires your explicit consent.

AI-extracted values are estimates based on visual analysis. They may be inaccurate due to lighting, photo quality, strip age, or other factors. You are responsible for verifying values that affect the health of your aquarium and its inhabitants. We do not guarantee accuracy.

9. Content you create

You retain ownership of the data you create in Reefling: your tank records, parameter logs, photos, and notes. You grant us only the limited rights necessary to operate the service (storing your data locally, syncing it to our servers if you are a Pro subscriber with sync enabled, and processing photos through Anthropic when you have consented to AI processing).

We do not claim any ownership of your content.

10. Intellectual property

Reefling, the Magellan3 brand, the application code, design, and all related materials are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

Reefling is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI extraction will be accurate. Use of Reefling is at your own risk and is intended as an aid, not a substitute for your own judgment regarding the health of your aquarium.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of Reefling shall not exceed the amount you have paid us for the service in the twelve months preceding the claim, or twenty euros (€20), whichever is greater.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of livestock, or any loss arising from inaccurate AI readings or service interruptions.

This limitation does not affect your rights as a consumer under mandatory provisions of Spanish or EU law.

13. Changes to the service

We may modify, add, or remove features of Reefling at any time. We will provide reasonable notice in the app for changes that materially affect your use of paid features.

14. Termination

You may stop using Reefling at any time by uninstalling the app and, if you have an account, by deleting your account from within the app.

We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms. In case of termination by us for a material breach, we will not refund any unused portion of a subscription.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes, we will notify users within the app. Continued use of Reefling after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

16. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain. Any dispute shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Spain, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rules that may grant you the right to bring proceedings before the courts of your country of residence.
